Education is Key
Education these days are more on the parents than it ever has been before. Some days they love to learn and others they struggle to pay attention. Most of the time we want to give up and say fuck it. We know deep down our children must learn and we must buckle down to get it done. Here are some tips I’ve learned along the way with my way too smart for his own good toddler!
Most good students aren't born good learners. I've had to learn this the hard way for sure. Yes, individual personality plays a big part in a child's willingness to learn and their overall disposition when it comes to schooling and education, but most children who are good learners at some point had to become good learners. So don't stress they are learning even when you think they are not. It's best to learn good teaching methods to get your little into high gear.
Your child needs love and support while learning. For example, he/she might sometimes need you to show him what to do. Make sure you have his attention and show him or her even if you have already before. Also remember they don't need you to give them all the answers. Letting your child make mistakes and find out for themselves how the world works is a big part of learning. This helps them with problem solving and guides them to the answer faster. Praise and encouragement is key when your child tries hard will keep him interested and help him feel good. Always keep in mind you know more than they do and they look to you for guidance.
1. Make learning interesting to them: We all know what makes our littles listen. What keeps them engaged in what we are saying. Apply this same method when trying to teach them something new. I know Bastian likes humor! So I try to make things funny. He also likes to build or have a finished product at the end of whatever we are doing. So I like to do puzzles and include counting or spell out words and make him put them in order. He super excited to do it and get it right that he stays still longer while paying attention.
2. Integrate their favorite character: Bastian loves Ryan's World and Hobby Kids. I've noticed he'll do anything these kids deem cool. A lot of the YouTube channels have educational things online for your kid to interact. I have created some things on my own that have characters from Ryan's World. Like Combo Panda and make it into a learning game. "How many combination of numbers can Combo make" This is a math game. Doing this like this and letting your mini help you make these are a great way to get them more interested in the task at hand.
3. There's always a reward: With every good behavior there's a reward right! I like to do a toy method. Every time Bastian sits downs and listens and learns something I will allow him to have more than one toy out at a time. I limit Bastian with the things that he has out so this works for me. If you don't do this another great thing to reward them with without it being candy or buy something new; is allowing them to do something they normally don't get to do. Like stay up an extra 15 minutes or they pick the next activity etc. This seems to work for me every time!
These are the times we need to praise the teachers. Their jobs are hard getting these little ones to sit down and pay attention. You will get through these moments soon and your kid will be wiser for it!
